Day 2

Today I worked on a few comic ideas. One is just a one page image, while the other is part of an ongoing project of mine.

First is the one page comic idea. I decide to sketch a rough draft and see if it looked good on paper.

Next is an idea for a scene from my project "Spare Time Heroes"

No matter what I did I was not pleased with the bottom left panel. Eventually I gave up and stuck with a face, but I still don't like it. I also learned I can not draw rubble.

Day 1

To start with I practiced drawing some noses, eyes, and a few profiles. I struggle with profiles so I need to work on them more. With the eyes I really wanted to try showing emotions with only the eyes.  I used this tutorial to help with the noses.

<- Those two are my favorite of the noses

Learning to Draw

This is one girl's journey to becoming a (hopefully) decent artist.

I will be posting scans of my drawings in hopes of getting constructive criticism and as a way to map my progress. My goal is to post at least one page of art a day. This will keep me in the habit of drawing frequently and not letting myself get discouraged or not practice as much as I need to.

Through a variety of materials, including online tutorials and books from the library, I hope to teach myself to draw. It will also be interesting to see which guide is the most help.

Sometimes my work will be simple sketches of body parts or expressions, other times it may be short comics.

I hope you enjoy watching me grow, and feel free to leave me comments. And if anyone would like to learn with me, I would love to see your progress as well.
